Maksutov-Cassegrains are the ultimate take-anywhere telescopes. Despite their small dimensions they pack a powerful punch. Their high-resolution, diffraction-limited optical systems are multi-coated to maximize contrast and image sharpness.
This is a Russian-made Mak from Intes. Known for its sharp optics, the field of view is very flat, and the image is as sharp at the edge as at the center of the field of view. There is also absolutely no false color, and images are razor sharp on the whole field of view.
Being Russian-made, it is built like a tank: there is no mirror shift or flop when focusing. It is heavy and very sturdy. No plastic, everything is made of metal. The tube is painted with a thick and irregular white paint. It is equipped with a very efficient removable black dew shield and a handle on the top of the tube which proves very useful to carry the 6kg (13lbs) tube.
The MK66 can use any and all of the many standard SCT attachments on the market today, such as, focal reducers...SCT diagonals, regular diagonals, any astrophotography attachments. Therefore, you can use 2" accessories with this scope.
The scope does NOT include the 7x35 finderscope mentioned in the table below.
