Not Returnable Please note that this product is not returnable.

This is a Stellarvue SVX102D apo in excellent condition.  Hand-figured and assembled here in the United States.  The optics are pristine, and the body only has a couple of minor nicks on it - see the photos.  This is almost like new, although the previous owner did use it - they just took excellent care of it.

Because most people will use this as an astrophotography scope, this is just the bare OTA; no finder, no diagonal, no eyepiece.  We do sell these items separately, both new and used. However, it does include a flattener made for this particular scope, and a Bahtinov mask.

The scope comes in a padded Stellarvue case, so we can ship this to you for a $49 shipping charge.  There are no returns on this item.

Description

Stellarvue SVX102D is a premium, hand-figured apochromatic doublet refractor designed as a highly refined successor to the older SV102 Access series. True to the Stellarvue SVX designation, each objective lens is meticulously hand-figured and tested in Auburn, California using a Zygo interferometer to ensure exceptional optical quality.

Stellarvue optics are fully multi-coated to increase light transmission and contrast. lenses are accurately hand figured but may show some cosmetic marks which do not affect performance. the telescope is internally baffled and treated with an ultra flat black interior. the true apochromatic lens, dark interior and full multi-coatings result in exceptional contrast and clarity.

Stellarvue designs and handcrafts the finest refractor telescopes.

The tube, dew shield, and fittings are precision machined. All aluminum parts are black anodized with a polished, high gloss finish. The dew shield can also serve as a glare shade during the day.

Internal tube treatment:

The inside of the tube assembly is painted "ultra flat black" and is fully baffled to eliminate reflection. The focuser is ultra flat black inside to reduce drawtube reflections.

Dual speed Crayford focuser with precision bearings:

The 2" Crayford focuser uses a compression ring and has three thumb screws to secure accessories and cameras firmly in place.

A compression ring 1.25" adapter with 2" filter thread is also provided: The focuser has three focusing knobs, one on the left and two on the right. The single knob on the left and a larger knob on the right provide coarse focusing. On the right side is a second, slightly smaller, brass colored fine focus knob. This fine focus knob has an 11-1 rotation reducer, allowing for extremely fine focusing.

The reducer in the Stellarvue focuser uses a hardened stainless shaft and precision ball bearings. It has greater longevity than some competitive dual speed focusers. A tension adjustment set screw is positioned under the focuser and a thumb screw allows for locking the focuser when engaged in astrophotography. The drawtube is inscribed with a millimeter scale on top.

Two 5 mm threaded holes on top of the focuser allow for the attachment of two separate finder scopes. To rotate the focuser, simply loosen the rotation lock knob on top.

Vixen mounting rail:

This telescope has two Stellarvue rings with Losmandy rails, the L-shaped mounting base will attach directly to the TP6 (Losmandy sized) plate with two screws to the existing rail.

Supplied accessories:

The Stellarvue SVX102D Refractor Telescope comes with a foam lined, airline carry on case. To operate the telescope visually you will need a star diagonal or erecting prism, eyepiece(s) and a mount or tripod.

Light gathering and magnification power:

Since the SVX102D uses a highly accurate, hand figured objective lens that has been tested three times in the USA, these telescopes are free of coma and astigmatism seen in many import telescopes.

This provides sharper details when viewing at higher powers. Dawes limit states that the maximum power for an 102mm telescope under good conditions is about 186 power.
