Like the 2" Colour Magic C1 Duo-band filter, the C2 Duo-band filter is specifically designed for advanced deep-sky astrophotographers who are shooting emission nebulae. The C2 filter produces dual narrowband "S-II + O-III" images for use with one-shot color cameras.
The Colour Magic C2 is especially useful for astrophotographers who wish to create images in the SHO or "Hubble Palette." Not long ago, doing SHO images required a monochrome astro-camera, and three separate, expensive filters (one each for sulphur, hydrogen, and oxygen). But now, by blending images shot with the C2 into corresponding images shot separately with the Colour Magic C1 (H-alpha + O-III) filter, the distinctive colors and appearance of SHO images can be produced—with a more common color camera and only two filters!
**You will need special image post-processing techniques to accomplish this, so Hubble/SHO images using the C1 & C2 (or any similar set of filters) aren’t well-suited to beginners.
